Syed Rashel Kabir, son of a
former police officer and freedom fighter Md. Mir. Abdul Quium (late), was born
in Rangpur district of Bangladesh. He completed B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc.
(Thesis) degree with an outstanding academic record (1st class 1st position)
from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Rajshahi
where he is currently working as a full professor. He was awarded Ph.D degree
from Tohoku University, Japan in 2004. He was also appointed as a staff member
followed by JSPS postdoctoral fellow at the same University in Japan. He went
to Kunming Institute of Zoology, China for one year to conduct advanced research
on Glioblastoma stem cancer cells under CAS-PIFI fellowship in 2017. He got the
prestigious UGC award-2011 and UGC gold medal award-2016 for his outstanding
contribution in the fields of Clinical, Pharmaceutical & Medical sciences, and
also in the life science, respectively. Due to his wholehearted effort,
Bangladesh got full membership status of Asia Pacific Protein Association
(APPA) where he is contributing as a council member. He is also working as
editorial board members and life members of several journals and professional organizations,
respectively. He published a book chapter, 29 articles in SCI and non-SCI
category journals and 99 conference abstracts. Currently, a number of Ph.D,
M.Phil and M.Sc students are working on the anticancer mechanism of lectins and
biogenic silver nanoparticles against different human cancer cell lines under
his direct supervision.
